A CHURCH in Romford has been awarded funding of almost £60,000 to go towards a refurbishment.

Havering Road Methodist Church, in Moray Way, was given the money by the City of London Corporation’s charity, the City Bridge Trust.

Kirsteen Howe, local co-ordinator at the church, said that the money would go towards disabled facilities including a wet room and ensuring that the church was more accessible.

She said: “We are hoping it will all come together in terms of being given the go-ahead and start work in the autumn.”

The whole project is set to cost around £480,000 to carry out and Kirsteen added that the target had nearly been reached.

To donate towards the refurbishment text BIGB14 £2, £5 or £10 to 70070.
