School in Rochford begins initiative to go meat-free on Mondays

By Michael Cox in Education

A ROCHFORD school has begun a Meat Free Monday initiative.

Holt Farm Junior School, in Ashingdon Road, started the scheme this week.

The school is registered with the Meat Free Monday campaign, set up by Sir Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney in 2009, which aims to encourage people to help slow climate change, preserve natural resources and improve their health by having one meat free day a week.

Head of School Lucy Wass said: “Meat Free Monday is a simple, effective and fun way to become more responsible global citizens.

"It’s about coming together as a school community to help the planet and promote healthy food.”
