CHELMSFORD City manager, Rod Stringer, has urged his charges to put Wednesday evenings Buildbase FA Trophy replay disappointments behind them when fellow promotion hopefuls, St Albans City, are the visitors to the Melbourne Stadium on Saturday.
Speaking ahead of what is a mammoth National League South contest, Stringer said: “St Albans City is a massive game for us, but then again they are all big games now. When I walked into this club, I came here to do one thing, and that was to somehow get us promoted. We are still on course for that, plus we’ve got the Essex Senior Cup semi-final, so there are plenty of positives at Chelmsford City at the moment.
The Clarets chief was fully aware of the threat posed by the Saints, adding: “They will come here keen to find a bit of rhythm having won only three of their last ten in the league, but we know what they are all about. They are level on points with us and picked up the three points when we met at their place back in August.”
Stringer continued to focused on the plus-points from the Tranmere test, stating: “We never stopped having a go, right until the final whistle. That’s what we’ve got at Chelmsford City at the moment, players that care. We came in on Thursday night and had a chat. We took stock of where we are and how far we have come.
“We will have some tired legs, while St Albans might benefit today from the extra rest. Nevertheless, we still have the cup-tied ads to come back into the side which will be a boost to us.
“It’s all set up for a decent game. Our supporters know that we will give it everything and we know that they will back us, just like they have magnificently all season.”
