Woman robbed and assaulted by gang in Laindon

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed of her handbag and assaulted.

The 42-year-old victim was walking along Basildon Drive in Laindon at 6pm on Wednesday February 1 when a green people carrier pulled up alongside.

Up to six men got out and threatened her. They stole her handbag and she was assaulted. She suffered a black eye, bruises and scratches.

Investigating officer DC Jodie Kinsley said: “This was a nasty incident that happened during the early evening in a busy residential area.”

The victim was walking in the direction of Holst Avenue at the time of the robbery.
