A ’SUPER-AUNT’ from Rainham has won a trip to a West End show for her devotion to caring for children.

Thelma Batty, 87 was nominated by Julie Plant, her niece, for the ’SuperAunt’ category in travel company SuperBreak’s ’Unsung heroes’ campaign.

Thelma said: “Looking after the children is something I really enjoy and we always have lots of fun when we are together, they brighten up my own day and knowing it helps Julia out is just an added bonus. We’ve always joked that I’m ‘Super Aunt’, so I’m very happy that I get to have the title of ‘SuperFun’ now as well.”

The ’SuperAunt’ wakes up at 5am twice a week to look after Julia’s children.

Ms Batty and her family will now enjoy a trip to London to see ’Aladdin’ in the West End.
