BILLERICAY Town Ladies picked up three vital Eastern Regional Women’s Premier Division points after goals from Hayley Piggott and Lindsey Morgan ensuring a 2-1 victory at their Brentwood Town counterparts.

Town started brightly with Vicky Kinsman hitting the woodwork, while Marie Barker went close as Brentwood responded. However, Billericay Took the lead from the penalty spot. Piggott making no mistake after the referee spotted a handling offence.

Morgan doubled Billericay’s lead with a superb strike high into the net, and although Brentwood reduced the arrears, it was the visitors who remained focused to record an important success.

Speaking after the match, Billericay manager, Kim Coster, said: “We knew that we had to put in a good performance, and we did. I was pleased that we created so many chances but we perhaps should have converted more of them.

“Defensively we were sound. That will give us a great deal of confidence ahead of a big cup semi-final next week.”

Billericay Town Ladies are next in action on Sunday, February 19 when LTD are the visitors to New Lodge in the semi-final of the Essex County Cup (1:30pm).
