Man jailed and two more given suspended sentences over Basildon drug-dealing

A MAN has been jailed after he was caught dealing cannabis in Basildon.

Christian Bayoko, 21, of Cosedge Crescent, Croydon, was jailed for 16 months after being convicted of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

He was convicted alongside two local men – Luke Mitchell, 23, of Beeleigh East, and Billy Lindwood, 21, of Feering Green.

Each admitted possessing a Class B drug with intent to supply and was handed a suspended eight-month jail term with an order to carry out 50 hours of community service.

The trio were caught when officers from Essex Police’s specialist anti-drugs squad Operation Raptor spotted a black BMW, using automatic numberplate recognition, which had no owner.

They stopped the car and smelled cannabis, then carried out a search. All three men were inside the car.

Bayoko was found to have four bags of herbal cannabis in his pockets, whilst Mitchell had cannabis hidden in his trousers.

Sergeant Ben Woollard said: “The jailing of Bayoko means the Operation Raptor South team has successfully removed another drug dealer from the streets of Essex.

“Whether it is acting on intelligence or carrying out proactive operations, such as the one that caught these three men, we will use every tactic open to us to continue to target those plying drugs in our communities.”
