FC Hamlets 0-1 Basildon Town

A GOAL from Darren Phillips was enough to see Basildon Town through this potentially tricky Senior Cup quarter-final clash with a stubborn FC Hamlets side at Hackney Marshes.
A manager, Marc Harrison, was satisfied that his side continued their quest for silverware on several fronts. Speaking to Yellow Sport after the match, the Town chief said: “Hamlets put us under a fair bit of pressure but we defended extremely well. I thought we managed the game well and thoroughly deserved our place in the last four of the competition.”
Harrison added: “We’ve lacked a bit of firepower in recent weeks. Our general build-up play has been good, and I was happier with our second half display this week. It was very positive.
“We have to put the cup to one side for now. Our challenge is to start well against Old Southendian next week. We can’t fear the situation because it is our own performances and hard work that sees us head the pack at the top of the table. We will continue to take it game by game and give a good account of ourselves as the title run-in hots up.”
