BB gun assault in Redbridge that took place in November 2016 remains unsolved as police renew appeal for information

By Rudi Abdallah in Crime

POLICE are continuing to appeal for information about ’an awful assault on an unsuspecting victim’ they failed to solve in Redbridge last November.

Victor Cataraga, 19, of Manor Park, was travelling on the 25 bus at 1.43pm on Friday, November 11, 2016, when he felt something hit the back of his head.

Victor, who was sitting at the front of the top deck, turned around to see what happened but found no one acting suspiciously.

When he touched the back of his head, he found a small metal ball protruding from his skin, causing it to bleed.

Police believe he was hit by a metal ball from a ball bearing (BB) gun.

DC Teresa Moore, member of the Roads and Transport Policing Command who is leading the investigation said: "This was an awful assault on an unsuspecting victim. We are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the male in the image or anyone who witnessed the incident."

Anyone with information is urged to contact DC Moore via 101, tweet @MetCC or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
