Services disrupted on c2c line after lorry hits bridge

By YA Reporter in Transport

RAIL operator c2c has warned of delays on the line after a lorry crashed into a bridge earlier today.

The line was initially suspended between Leigh-on-Sea and Pitsea for roughly one hour after a member of the public reported the incident to the train company at around 2.15pm.

But the site has now been assessed and there was no structural damage affecting the line.

Services have resumed but delays are expected to continue until around 4.45pm.

A c2c spokesman said the company did not have a street location for the collision but knew the site internally as Bowers Gifford Bridge, or Bridge 191.

The YA is awaiting a response from Essex Police as to whether it attended the incident and whether anybody was injured.
