Man knocked unconscious in Southend robbery

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was knocked unconscious during a robbery in Southend.

The robbery took place in Southchurch Road at around 1am today.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “A 64-year-old man from Southend was walking home with a friend before they went their separate ways.

“Shortly afterwards the victim was approached near to the Ambleside Drive junction by two men who threatened him with a knife.

“The victim was then punched, knocked unconscious and had his wallet stolen.”
