Doggy day care from K9to5
Thursday, 14 June 2012
CARE: Barry Barclay, Christine Lake, Joe Harris and Veronica Adams. Picture by Martin Dalton
CHRISTINE Lake and Jo Harris are setting up a creche – but their charges will not be toddling tots but furry four-footed ‘babies’.
The pair, who both live in Billericay, are planning doggy day care.
They met out dog walking, and the idea for the canine caper grew with the friendship.
Christine had already worked for one of the first dog care centre in Essex – K9to5 – and was keen to take the business over when the owner left for America at the end of last year.
Jo was also thinking along lines of looking after pets while their owners were at work or out for the day.
“We are renting a field on a Stock farm and looking for a container to provide indoor shelter,” Christine explained.
“We will devote the day to making sure the dogs in our care are exercised, entertained and rested.”
They hope to open their K9to5 in the next two weeks at Short Hill Farm, Stock.
