CANVEY Island will host its annual Armed Forces Day parade on Saturday.
The parade will begin at 10am at the Castle View School car park on Foksville Road.
It will then travel through the town centre to the Paddocks Community Centre on Long Road.
It will be led by the Canvey Island Air Cadets squadron and will include both current armed forces officers and local veterans.
The Sutherland Pipes and Drums will provide marching music and the day’s events will be attended by Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris and mayor Peter Burch.
At 11am a service at the Paddocks will be led by Reverend David Tudor, featuring musical contributions from the Canvey Community Choir and the Thundersley Brass Band.
The days celebrations will continue with a war time exhibition from 11.45am to 1.30pm.
The Bay Museum and the Canvey Community Archive will provide memorabilia and photographs.
The day’s celebrations will conclude with a ‘night of nostalgia’ at the Paddocks, where the Sid Bolan Big Band will perform. Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased from the town council office.
