TWO FRIENDS have recorded a special tribute song for Canvey man Alex Fryer.
Alex had just turned 22 when he was involved in a road accident on his bicycle in May.
He was placed on life support, but it was switched off after he failed to respond to treatment.
His friends Aaron White and David Gray, both from Canvey, have recorded a charity fundraising song in his memory.
The song – ‘Message To An Angel’ – will raise money for the Air Ambulance, who transported Alex to hospital after his accident.
Aaron, who performs under the stage name Fury, said he started to write the song the day after he heard of Alex’s death.
He said: “David knew Alex more than I did. I texted him to say sorry for his loss, and he wrote back that he wanted to do a tribute song.
“I’d written half of the song by the next day. Then I went to Greece for a week and David and I wrote the rest of it when I got back.”
Aaron, who runs his own recording studio – Studio 9 – on Canvey, said he and David, whose stage name is Digs, had finished the track within two weeks of Alex’s death.
The song, which is currently available on iTunes for just 79p, has won the approval of Alex’s dad, Steve.
Steve said: “The song is fantastic. Absolutely out of this world.”
Aaron said Alex would have approved of the track.
He explained: “Alex loved his hip-hop and rap music.”
A music video for the track is currently on YouTube.
A DVD of the video will go on sale soon to raise further funds for the Air Ambulance.
To find the song on iTunes or YouTube, type in ‘Alex Fryer – Message To An Angel’.
• Last week the Yellow Advertiser reported that Alex Fryer’s friend Grace Wallis had held his hand as doctors switched off his life support. Steve Fryer would like to make clear that it was in fact Alex’s fiance Tasha Gaunt who held his hand as the machines were switched off. Miss Wallis had held it just before that moment.
