Hospital staff rewarded with VIP box at football club
Thursday, 26 November 2009
HARD-WORKING staff at Southend Hospital are being rewarded for their dedication with a VIP box at Southend United.
Hospital executives have sponsored the Roots Hall viewing gallery so that deserving workers can enjoy a home game following a pre-match meal.
Pairs of tickets will be allocated to nominees chosen for their commitment and dedication.
A spokesman said access to the box was available to all staff, but not consultants or executives.
The spokesman said the season box fee is paid by executives and people who make donations to the hospital with the express wish that staff should benefit.
Medical director, Dr Graham Tosh, said: “There are so many staff who quietly and conscientiously roll up their sleeves and pitch in whenever the need arises. They are the backbone of the hospital and we want to show them our appreciation.”
Details of the sponsorship were revealed after a query from a Yellow Advertiser reader who noticed that a day in the executive box was being offered by the hospital in a raffle.
Dr Tosh commented: “As the cost of the box is coming either from donations by senior staff or our charitable funds, no money is being taken away from patient care.”
