EXCITED: Gable Hall School pupils get ready to perform. Picture by Martin Dalton
GRAB your hair lacquer and dancing shoes - members of Gable Hall School’s Senior Youth Theatre are putting on a spectacular production of Hairspray - The Musical from next week.
The group - who performed Les Misérables in February - will be joined by Junior Youth Theatre and school theatre group CASTA Theatre Arts.
Director, Peter Goldsmith, said: “The performers from CASTA are at the average age of nine, so this is a fantastic opportunity for them to experience performing in a show with sound and lighting.
“It’s a really good, fun show with great entertainment and songs like Good Morning Baltimore, You Can’t Stop the Beat and Mama I’m a Big Girl Now. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!”
Hairspray - The Musical is based on the 1988 film and sees Tracy Turnblad auditioning for a role on the fictional Corny Collins Show.
The show opens at Gable Hall School in Corringham, on Tuesday December 1.
Performances will also take place on Wednesday, December 2, Friday, December 4 and Saturday, December 5.
The shows start from 7.30pm with a matinee performance at 2.30pm on Saturday, December 5.
Tickets cost £8 for adults, £5 for concessions and £20 for a family (two adults and two children).
