Currie joins Daggers
Tuesday, 24 November 2009
VETERAN winger Darren Currie has joined Dagenham & Redbridge on a month’s loan from Chesterfield.
The move also has an agreement in place for the Daggers to sign the 34-year-old on an 18-month contract during the January transfer window.
Currie started out as a trainee with West Ham United and has since gone on to make more than 500 appearances since making his debut for Shrewsbury in 1994.
He has twice been named in the PFA Division Three team of the year while playing for Barnet between 1998 and 2001.
The winger has also had spells at Leyton Orient, Plymouth, Wycombe Wanderers, Brighton, Ipswich, Coventry, Derby and Luton.
The nephew of former Leeds United and England footballer Tony Currie also had a loan deal at LA Galaxy before moving to Luton in 2007 and making 38 appearances before the club went into administration.
Currie will be available when Daggers make the trip to Bournemouth tonight (Tuesday).
