RB Leipzig v Tottenham Hotspur – Red Bull Arena – UEFA Champions League Round of Sixteen (second-leg) – Tuesday 8pm
RB Leipzig v Tottenham Hotspur – Preview:
Tottenham head to Germany chasing their UEFA Champions League Round of Sixteen tie with RB Leipzig and already looking short of ideas on how to recover the situation.
The Bundesliga outfit hold a slender lead from the first leg in N17 – Timo Werner netting from the penalty spot just before the hour mark after Ben Davies was clumsy on Konrad Laimer.
Steven Bergwijn had joined Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, seemingly with a lengthy injury issue leaving the ‘Special One’ seemingly looking for some kind of divine intervention to assist the beleaguered Lilywhites.
“Tomorrow is one game – we are losing 1-0 at half-time,” Mourinho explained.
“We were losing 1-0 at half-time two days ago. It’s something that’s happened to use a few times this season and we have a second half to play.
“We go with everything we have. And you can ask me can you score two goals without Kane, Son, Bergwijn? There are many ways to score goals. A Leipzig player could even do what Antonio Rudiger did and score for us -anything is possible in football and we are very positive”.
Despite their current issues, the Spurs boss was certainly looking long-term at the project in front of him: “I believe that Tottenham is not going to be my only club without silverware,” he added
“I won at every club and I believe I’m going to do it at Tottenham.”
