Old Southendian Hockey Club’s ladies returned to action after lockdown with a win and a draw over sides from Basildon HC.
The Old Girls first team played out a pulsating 2-2 draw with an experienced Basildon second XI.
Amy Elvidge and Sami Da Costa were on target for the Seasiders in what was a tough fixture against a side looking to bounce back following relegation at the end of the last campaign.
The Old Southendian side held their own, and despite conceding fro two short corners, they gained a well-earned share of the spoils and remain three points clear at the top of the Table.
The Old Girls second-string returned to action in style, thrashing Basildon’s fourth team by four unanswered goals.
It was a committed team performance with Cris Liebenberg, Emily McCarthy, Alice Harman and Kaylen Mehta all on target. Captain, Ros Jackson, enthused: “The girls’ teamwork, fitness and confidence combined in an assured performance and well-deserved win”
