Advice Store set for new home in Basildon town centre

The Advice Store – the place for skills and employment advice – is moving to a new site in Basildon this month.

The new Advice Store at 5 Market Pavement, will officially open Tuesday October 19. The new site will continue to provide an accessible and welcoming space for residents looking for advice, support and opportunities to improve their employability.

Since opening its doors in 2019 the Advice Store has received nearly 5,000 referrals from local people. Whether you are looking to change your career and need to update your skills, are currently unemployed and looking for work or leaving full time education and need advice on career options – The Advice Store in Basildon Town Centre can help.

Councillor Anthony Hedley, chairman of the Regeneration and Economic Development Committee, said: “When we opened the Advice Store in 2019 we wanted to create opportunities for local people to learn more about the advice and support available to them. Since then, the Advice Store has become a real community asset – helping thousands of people of all ages from across Basildon to learn new skills, retrain in new sectors of work and find more fulfilling employment opportunities.

“I am grateful to all of the partners and providers who continue to work us at the Advice Store. Without their support the Advice Store could not succeed. Together we are improving the prospects of local people and helping them achieving the success they deserve.”

The new Advice Store site will continue to include partners such as Clarion Futures offering careers guidance, Signpost who help people with employability skills, South Essex College advising on their adult skills courses and Realise Futures supporting disabled job seekers to find work.

The Advice Store will be open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Thursday at 5 Market Pavement, Basildon, Essex, SS14 1DD
