Old Southendian v Shenfield AFC – Essex Olympian League Premier Division – Report
Old Southendian 3-1 Shenfield AFC
Old Southendian returned to Essex Olympian League Premier Division winning ways, however, boss Altan Ali admitted that his side rode their luck before seeing off a tough Shenfield AFC side at Garon Park.
“It was tough going, but we got through it,” Ali told Yellow Sport.
“We rode our luck, but sometimes that’s the way it goes. There have been days when we haven’t got what we deserved from a game. Today, that applies to Shenfield.
Goals from Mitch Ali, Ruari McIntyre and Callum Ludlaim secured the Old Boys success, although Matt Tonking was given his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card.
“We needed to bounce back and ensure we didn’t lose any further ground,” Ali added.
“We need to put together another run of wins and see where it takes us.”
