Ali frustrated with careless Old Boys

Springfield 5-2 Old Southendian

Altan Ali was left frustrated with his sides’ defending after they crashed to a 5-2 Essex Olympian League Premier Division defeat at Springfield.

Nico Dubouchet’s header and an own-goal forced by debutant Harry Venables provided little comfort for Ali as Garjay Thompson (2), Lewis Chapman, Dean Wallace and Victor Doleweerd saw the hosts home.

“We’ve switched off as a group,” the Old Boys boss told Yellow Sport.

“It’s really frustrating because we show signs of improvement, then undo our good work.

“It’s disappointing to lose like this, particularly to a side below us in the league and in the bottom half of the table.

“The boys have got it in them to be better. We just have to have a little more belief and take responsibility.”
