Ali impressed with Old Boys battling qualities

Wakering Sport 2-2 Old Southendian

Altan Ali was impressed with his Old Southendian sides’ battling qualities but believes he is still a player or two short in terms of strength in depth.

Host’s Wakering Sports established a two-goal advantage at the interval. And it could have been worse for the Garon Park-based club had stopper Pete Loveday not saved from the spot.

But the Old Boys fought back after the break with Callum Ludliam and Matt Tonking, netting his second in as many games, earning a 2-2 draw.

“It was a good run out – a game of two halves,” Ali told Yellow Sport.

“The second-half performance was much better. I thought we deserved to get back on terms.

Ali added: “Unfortunately we’ve picked up a couple of injuries and are still looking to strengthen the squad with a defensive player.”
