Hadleigh & Thundersley have confirmed the eye-catching signing of South African all-rounder, Adam Forbes as their overseas player ahead of the 2021 Hamro Foundation Essex League season.
A competitive and committed cricketer, effective at an opening right-0-handed batsman of right-arm medium-fast bowler, Forbes represented his Province, Gauteng throughout his high school years, debuted in the Premier League at sixteen and was named the captain of Boksburg in 2017 at the age of seventeen.
A dual citizen of South Africa and Ireland, Forbes told Yellow Sport: “Coming over to the UK to play cricket has always been a dream of mine and for it to finally be coming true is so exciting.
“Being able to represent a club with so much history and such a great reputation makes coming over so much more exciting. I’m looking so forward to applying my trade in such a high standard and to keep H&TCC proud to have me.
“I can’t wait to make as many runs as possible, completely submerge myself in the clubs’ community and to help those who need it and give a little South African banter to the boys. I can’t wait to get over.”
Meanwhile, Hadleigh & Thundersley skipper, Adam Dobson added: “We are really excited to bring Forbes into our squad this year.
“He’s playing a great standard back in South Africa and has shown he can consistently score runs against strong bowling attacks. With Forbes being captain of his home club, it also adds another voice on the field which we will certainly welcome in those pressure situations.
“We hope that Forbes will help us to kick on from finishing 4th in the Premier Division in 2019 and achieve a lot of success on the pitch in a year that sees the club celebrate its 75th anniversary.”
