Appeal after robbery in Westcliff

Police are investigating a robbery in Westcliff where a man in his 20s had his mobile phone and electric scooter stolen.

The victim had been sitting in a shelter opposite the Genting Casino just off Westcliff Parade at 12.45pm on Sunday July 4 when he was approached by a group of people.

They asked him about his scooter before grabbing it, spraying him with pepper spray, and making off with both the scooter and his mobile phone.

The three members of the group have been described as:

Suspect one: around 15 or 16 years-old, 5ft 7ins tall, slim, with tanned skin and short dark-brown hair and wearing a black Canada Goose brand coat with the hood over his head. He had a large bruise around his right eye.

Suspect two: also around 15 or 16 yaers-old, slim, 5ft 7ins tall and wearing a white jacket and a blue surgical mask. He also had his hood up.

Suspect three: around 16 or 17 years-old, about 5ft 8ins tall, black and of stocky build. He was wearing a black balaclava.

All three left down the hill towards the Genting Casino and then towards Southend Pier.
