Appeal following collision in Upminster

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision in Upminster.

Officers were called at 6.10pm on Sunday June 26, to the A127, junction with Front Lane, Upminster, where a black Mercedes had left the road and collided with a lamppost, sign and gas main.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital, where his condition is life-threatening.

Local roads were closed and some local residents had to be evacuated from their homes.

The collision is being investigated by officers from the Serious Collision Investigation unit based at Chadwell Heath.

They are appealing for any witnesses, including those with dash cam/mobile phone footage, who have not yet come forward to contact the investigation team by calling 020 8597 4874 or 101 quoting reference CAD 5664.
