Appeal following fatal collision in Dagenham

Police are appealing for witnesses and footage of the events surrounding a fatal collision in Dagenham.

Officers were called at 03:50hrs on Sunday, September 15 to reports of a seriously injured man in the road on the west-bound carriageway of the A13 in Dagenham.

The vehicle involved did not stop at the scene, but the driver returned to the location a short time later.

London Ambulance Service attended but the victim, a 36-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and formal identification has taken place. A post mortem took place on Thursday, September 19 and gave cause of death as multiple injuries.

Officers have established that the victim had been at the Gomora nightclub in Ripple Road prior to the collision. He was walking in the road when he received his injuries.

The car involved, a black BMW 5 series, was found abandoned just over a mile away near the Roundhouse pub in Porters Avenue, Dagenham.

The driver of the car, a-39-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was taken into custody and later released under investigation.

Police are asking for anyone who might have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it and anyone who might have dash cam footage of the collision to contact police immediately.
