Appeal following serious assault in Southend

Officers investigating a serious assault in Southend are appealing for witnesses.

Emergency services attended Eastern Esplanade at around 7.30pm on Friday February 9 where an injured man had collapsed outside the Namaste restaurant.

The man, aged in his 30s, had been seriously assaulted at a toilet block opposite the restaurant, located near to the Breakwater café.

He had sustained a broken nose and cuts to his head and he was taken to hospital.

Detective Sergeant Stacy King, of Southend CID, said “I would like to thank the staff who assisted the victim and called emergency services.

“The area would have been busy early Friday evening and I’d like to ask anyone who was in the area and who saw anything that could help us piece together what happened and who is responsible for this assault, to contact us.

“Any piece of information, no matter how small, may be significant to our investigation.”
