Appeal following serious assault in Southend

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Southend this morning.

Officers were called to St Marys Court, on Victoria Avenue in Southend shortly before 4am this morning (April 29) following reports of a woman sustaining serious injuries.

The victim is currently in hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Three men and one woman have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detective Inspector Tracey Golding said: “The victim, a woman in her late teens is in hospital after sustaining multiple stab wounds.

“We are working quickly to establish what has happened and appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything in the early hours of this morning or have any CCTV, video doorbell footage or dashcam footage to contact us.

“If you live along Victoria Avenue or the surrounding roads, we’re asking you to check any footage you may have between the hours of 2am and 4am.”
