Appeal for information after man seriously injured in Basildon restaurant

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Basildon yesterday evening (March 1).

Officers were called to The Watermill Beefeater in East Mayne, at around 11.30pm to reports of a man with serious injuries.

The 52-year-old victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not deemed to be life-threatening.

Early enquiries have indicated that he was assaulted and thrown down some stairs at the venue.

The suspect is then believed to have left the scene and driven away in a car.

He is described as a white man, of large build, aged between 30 and 40 years old and with a beard.

Anyone who was in the venue at the time and saw the incident or has any information is being asked to get in touch with police.
