Appeal for witnesses after man is knocked unconscious in Rayleigh

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault which left a man unconscious in Rayleigh.

It happened between 1am and 1.30am on Saturday August 1.

A man in his 50s had been walking along Eastwood Road, near to the junction of High Road, towards a taxi rank when he was attacked from behind by two men.

He fell to the floor, hitting his head on some metal railings and was knocked unconscious.

It was reported the men then left before returning a short time later as the victim was getting into a taxi and threatened him.

One of the men is described as being in his early-to-mid 20s, white, around 6ft tall, muscular with dark hair and wearing a tight black t-shirt.

The second man is also described as being in his early-to-mid 20s, white, around 6ft tall and muscular but with fair hair.

He is also believed to have been wearing a tight black t-shirt.

They were both last seen near to a war monument outside Clinton Cards on Rayleigh High Street.
