Appeal to identify man after two incidents in Rayleigh

Officers are appealing for information following reports of a man acting suspiciously on two occasions in Rayleigh.

On the first occasion, it was reported that around 7:10pm on Tuesday September 14, three teenagers sitting in a park area in Hartford Road were being watched by a man (crime reference 42/199719/21).

On the second occasion, just before 3:50pm on Monday October 4 three teenage girls reported that they were walking along London Road when a man spoke to them and made unwanted comments (crime reference 42/218774/21).

On this occasion the man was described as tanned, early 30s and wearing black joggers, navy coat and a striped top.

He rode off on a grey pedal bike, with thin wheels.

Officers attended and searched the area but did not find the man.

On both occasions, the girls were unharmed.

At this stage police believe it is the same man and are working to confirm his identity.

Investigating officer, PC Parker, Canvey Local Policing Team said: “We want to identify and speak to this man quickly and we would ask anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the areas around the times and dates given, or who has information about the incidents to contact us.

“If you were in the area at the time, please check your dash cam footage to see if you have captured anything that may help our enquiry.”
