Arrest after knifepoint robbery in Chelmsford

Police have arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of robbery after a car was stolen from a driver in a knifepoint robbery in Chelmsford.

Officers were called to Rainsford Road at about 12.15am on Tuesday April 30.

A suspect reportedly approached a silver Ford Fiesta and threatened the driver with a knife before taking the vehicle.

The car was seen heading in the direction of Parkway and Forest Drive and was reportedly involved in a collision with another vehicle as it left the scene.

A 34-year-old man from Chelmsford has been arrested on suspicion of robbery, dangerous driving, possession of a Class A drug, and being wanted on recall to prison.

Officers want to hear from anyone who may have seen this incident or the silver Ford Fiesta leaving the scene.
