Arrest made after lorry overturns in Pitsea

Officers investigating after a lorry struck a bridge in Pitsea and overturned have made an arrest.

Police worked extensively at the scene alongside Highways colleagues to clear the carriageway, after the collision in High Road shortly after 8.15am this morning (Thursday June 6).

A 55-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion driving under the influence of drugs.

He was taken to hospital for further treatment and will be interviewed upon his discharge.

No serious injuries were suffered and the road has now been reopened.
