Arsenal v Sheffield United – Premier League – Emirates Stadium – Sunday (2pm) – Preview
On paper, Arsenal are expected to continue their steady progress under Mikel Arteta with an otherwise straightforward Premier League victory over early-season strugglers, Sheffield United.
However, with attention to detail a crucial factor in Arteta’s approach, the Spaniard believes the Blades uneasy opening to the campaign is more down to fine margins than an overall loss of form.
“The margins in the league of winning, drawing and losing are really small and the details are crucial, but they have generated big chances every game and they’ve been really unlucky in my opinion not to get anything out of those games,” the Gunners boss explained.
“We have experience of playing against them both in the Premier League and in the FA Cup so we know how difficult it is to play against them.
“The season they had, the way they have evolved as a team since they joined the Premier League has been unbelievable, the work that the manager has done with the coaching staff with the resources they have is remarkable.
“We need to be really alert and we have to play at our best again.”
Indeed, Chris Wilder’s side took four points from a possible six off the North Londoners during the last campaign, highlighting further the threat the Yorkshiremen possess when they click.
“I hope we can go on Sunday and grab three points because it’s going to be really important for us before the international break.
“The differences are in both teams and I think you will notice some changes in structure and players. It’s a different game [to last season] but we know what we’re trying to do and how difficult it will be.
“They have the necessity for points as well and that will make the team even more ready for it.”
