Southend United have confirmed that experienced midfielder, Will Atkinson has extended his contract and will now remain with the Vanarama National League outfit until the end of the current campaign.
The 33-year-old has made 15 appearances for the Shrimpers since returning to the club back in August.
“I’ve been at the club before and I’ve been here this season and it’s been a bit of a tough place to be at times this year, but I feel like it’s starting to turn now.
“I want to be a part of it moving forward so I’m really pleased to be staying,” Atkinson enthused
“I don’t know if I’m back to my best, but I’ve definitely had a run of games and I feel like we’ve got a system that is working.
“The manager has implemented his style and it takes a bit of time, but I think it’s all coming together and, hopefully, we can keep that going.
“There’s no point in getting carried away or anything. We want to be a lot higher up and although it’s a lot better than we were doing, there’s still for improvement.
“I’m getting a run in the team so I’m getting fitter all the time. I’m looking forward to another game tomorrow which we’ll be looking to get another three points in.”
Meanwhile, the club has announced the trio, Terrell Egbri, Eren Kinali and Miles Mitchell-Nelson have headed out on loan.
Egbri and Kinali will link up with Hendon and Farnborough, while Mitchell-Nelson links up with East Thurrock United.
