Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted in each half as Arsenal ended their Manchester City misery and booked their place at this year’s Emirates FA Cup final.
The Gunners will face either Chelsae or Manchester United on August 1 after producing a performance which was both resolute and ruthless.
City had won each of the previous seven meetings between the two clubs. However, despite pinning Arsenal back for prolonged spells, they had no answer to Aubameyang’s salvo.
The Gunners skipper met Nicolas Pepe’s centre to beat City stopper Ederson via an upright. Then, the Gabon international raced clear before slotting through Ederson’s legs to finish the job midway through the second period.
Speaking after the match, Gunners boss, Mikel Arteta, enthused: “They are so happy because we had a big task in front of us today against such a big team and we’ve done it, so they are really proud.
“The chemistry we are generating between them is fantastic and the way they are fighting for each other too. At the moment I have the feeling that I can play any of those players and they are going to respond and they are going to perform.
“We changed a few players from when we played on Wednesday and when we played today, and look at the way that they are performing.”
