Essex Eagles suffered back-to-back Vitality Blast defeats as Glamorgan inflicted a seven-wicket setback at Sophia Gardens.

Eagles headed to the Welsh capital off the back of a disappointing performance against Hampshire Hawks at Chelmsford on Friday evening and there was to be more frustration as the 2019 winners, who continue to look off colour.

Wicketkeeper/batsman, Will Buttleman top-scored as Essex posted a modest 153/6. Michael Pepper chipped in with 29, while New Zealander, Jimmy Neesham scored 21 – Ruaidhri Smith (2/13) and Andrew Salter (2/31) impressing with the ball for the hosts.

Glamorgan comfortably kept up with the rate, reaching their target with six balls to spare. Nick Selman reached 65 before Simon Harmer took a catch off his own delivery, while Marnus Labuschagn also passed fifty to seal Essex’s fate.

Essex Eagles return to T20 Vitality Blast action on Tuesday, June 15 when Sussex Sharks visit the Cloudfm County Ground 7pm.
