Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Gareth Bale has returned to the club following seven years with Real Madrid.
The Welshman has put pen to paper on a year-long loan deal with the North Londoners, while 23-year-old left-sided defender, Sergio Reguilón, also makes the move signing a five-year contract with the club.
Bale had left Spurs for Madrid in 2013 for what was then a world-record fee of £85m. The 31-year-old has helped the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium outfit win the UEFA Champions League on four occasions.
“I’m so happy to have this shirt on again,” Bale told www.tottenhamhotspur.com.
“It’s nice to be back. This is such a special Club to me. It’s where I made my name. What an amazing Club, amazing fans, and it’s just incredible to be back. Hopefully, now I can get some match fitness, help the team and win trophies.
“I always thought when I did leave that one day I would love to come back, and the opportunity has now arisen. I feel like it’s a good fit, it’s a good time for me, I’m hungry, I’m motivated, I want to do well and can’t wait to get started.”
