Basildon Pride returns

Basildon Pride returns to the town on Saturday September 4 as the town celebrates the LGBT+ community.

A parade will start from the old Toys R Us at 11am, gliding colourfully through the town centre, across Broadmayne and into Gloucester Park before reaching the festival site at Basildon Sporting Village where two stages will be providing entertainment all day.

The Eastgate Centre Stage is set up in a big top and will feature side splitting drag artists and tribute acts while the Family Stage will provide entertainment for kids of all ages.

A new free Pride Bus service, operated by First Essex will run from the Town Centre bus station to the festival site every 20 minutes.

Finally, festival goers can finish off the day at the official after party at Mr Mulligan’s at Festival Leisure Park where for £15 they can be entertained by three fabulous acts, play crazy golf and dance the night away.

All those attending the free event should take a COVID lateral flow test and review the coronavirus safety instructions.

Anyone wishing to take part in the parade should meet up at Toys R Us from 10.15am.
