Concord Rangers 3-0 Southend United
Ade Osimeh grabbed a hat-trick as Concord Rangers warmed up for Saturday’s Buildbase FA Trophy semi-final clash with Halesowen Town by comfortably seeing off Southend United by three unanswered goals at the Aspect Arena.
Blues fielded a squad with a reasonable amount of EFL experience between them but the Roots Hall side proved to be no match for their Vanarama National League South opponents, who found themselves three goals to the good inside the opening quarter of an hour.
Speaking to Yellow Sport after the match, Beach Boys Head of Recruitment, Adam Drew, enthused: “It was just what we needed ahead of the Trophy tie at the weekend. We were even able to field almost all trialists and under 18’s during the second half.
“We were able to implement plans we have worked on in training and also get 45 minutes into the senior boys.
“It was also good to see the youngsters and trialists perform well – they all acquitted themselves well and certainly gave us something to think about moving forward.”
Life-long Southend fan, Drew, added: “Big thanks to Mark Molesley for bringing a side over. He did fantastic at Weymouth and I hope he is successful at my boyhood club.”
