It’s very nearly panto time at the Towngate in Basildon and this year the theatre presents ‘a tale as old as pantomime’ – Beauty & The Beast.

Basildon’s favourite panto star, Simon Fielding, will be returning with more madcap mayhem and side-splitting silliness as Villy. and the hugely talented, Sophie Ladds, will be back as she takes on the role of the villainous Villeneuve.

Simon said: “We’ve been working hard on our version of Beauty and the Beast since January 2020. We have a hilarious script, amazing song choices, tons of surprises and the most magical ballroom scene you could ever wish for.”

Joining Simon and Sophie will be Ian Hallard as Dame Dolly, Henry Shine as Prince Adam, Mark Faith as Monsieur Belle and Madeleine Leslay returns this year as Belle, after receiving critical acclaim as fiery Alice Fitzwarren in Dick Whittington in 2019.

The Towngate’s award-winning, 5-star pantomimes are renowned for their stunning scenery, colourful costumes, dazzling dancers and fantastic live band at every performance.

Demand for Beauty and the Beast 2021-22 has been high with performances already out-selling previous years,

Beauty and the Beast runs at the Towngate Theatre, Basildon from Wednesday November 24 – Monday January 3. To book tickets, call the Box Office on 01268 205 300 or book online at
