Adam Vyse bagged a hat-trick as Basildon United recorded an entertaining 4-2 derby success over Grays Athletic at Gardiners Close.
Vyse and Ayomikun Odukoya netted shortly before the break as the Bees took command. However, a double from former West Ham United frontman, Tony Stokes, saw Grays roar back as the balance of the contest changed.
But it was to be Basildon’s day and they moved seven points clear of the relegation zone thanks to a pair of spot-kicks, both successfully converted to hand the home side victory and Vyse the match ball.
Elsewhere in the North Division, Heybridge Swifts enhanced their play-off credentials with a 3-1 victory over Felixstowe & Walton United at The Aspen Wait Arena.
Evans Kouassi, Alex Teniola and Harrison Chatting netted for the Swifts – they sit fourth, seven points behind leaders, Maldon & Tiptree.

Goals from Darren Foxley and Frankie Merrifield proved decisive as East Thurrock United won by two goals to one at Bowers & Pitsea.
A healthy crowd of 254 witnessed the hard-fought contest at the Len Salmon Stadium. Quentin Monville bagged the Bowers consolation in the final minutes.
Haringey Borough edged out Wingate & Finchley by the odd goal in three at Coles Park. Chiduben Onokwai and Georgios Aresti were on target for Borough, either side of an Alex Read strike for the visitors.
Meanwhile, the evergreen Jamie Cureton netted from the spot shortly before the end of Bishop’s Stortford’s clash with Kingstonian. But it was all to no avail as goals from Reece Hall and former Southend, Colchester and Orient man, Sean Clohessy, saw the South Londoners home.

Will Wright netted five minutes from time to earn managerless Dagenham & Redbridge a share of the spoils against fellow strugglers, Ebbsfleet United, at Stonebridge Road.
The Kent side had taken an early lead through Alex Reid. However, Wright’s late free-kick salvaged a point.
Terry Harris and Jody Brown took charge of the Daggers following the dismissal of Peter Taylor. They now sit just one place and two points above the relegation zone.

Chelmsford City completed a festive derby double over Braintree Town with a 2-1 success at Cressing Road.
The Clarets had won the corresponding fixture by four goals to one at the Melbourne Stadium on Boxing Day, and it was their fans amongst the 971 crowd who again went home happy thanks to goals from Tom Knowles and Shaun Jeffers (penalty). Rhys Murrell-Williams had levelled the score, firing home from the edge of the box. Chelmsford are up to tenth – Braintree slip to fifthteenth.
Billericay Town’s derby with Concord Rangers at New Lodge was frustratingly called of shortly before kick-off following a late pitch inspection.
