Samuel Coelho’s 42 off 87 balls helped Benfleet to a three-wicket victory over Old Southendian & Southchurch at Woodside Park.

Ray Gipson chipped in with 35 to see the visitors to an opening day of the season success. Ahmed Khawaja took two for 25 for the Garon Park-based side.

Earlier, Sandeep Muraleedharan had top-scored for the Old Boys, hitting 48 off 59 deliveries. However, Ross Casson claimed 5/31 as the hosts restricted Old Southendian to 172.
