Ben Munday hit 47 off 78 balls, while Sam Rowe’s 46 came from 71 as the visitors posted a modest 186/7 – Adam Hunt (2/16) and Joe Sibbons (2/23) the pick of the Southend bowlers.

The home sides’ response was steady, but ultimately never picked up enough momentum to see them over the line. Sibbon’s superb unbeaten 86 off 166 gave them hope. However, Ben Wathen (26) was the only other SOSEMT batsman to reach double figures, while Munday took 3/43 and Callum Wheeler 2/25 to ensure maximum points for the visitors’.
