Blackman return a boost for Beach Boys

DANNY SCOPES is delighted to be reunited with Sam Blackman although the Concord Rangers chief admitted he was disappointed that the combative midfielders move to Dartford was blighted by injury.

Blackman fulfilled a lifelong ambition when he signed for his hometown club from the Beach Boys last summer. However, a broken leg sustained during a pre-season friendly with Bromley sidelined the player and despite loan spells at Hythe Town and Leatherhead, the injury hindered his route back to regular first-team action at Princes Park.

“I was gutted that the injury destroyed his time at Dartford because I know how much it meant to him,” Scopes told Yellow Sport.

“I know how much it hurt to him. He’s a good, honest lad who loves playing the game.”

Nevertheless, having captured the signature of a player he has a lot of time for, Scopes insisted now is the time for Blackman to look forward to a fresh start at the Canvey-based club.

“Together, we will use that frustration to help him enjoy his football.again. I spoke to Sammy a lot last season after working with him previously as a coach. He’s another player that ticks all the boxes and for me, that’s what I like.”
