Rotherham United v Southend United – New York Stadium – Sky Bet League One – Saturday 3pm
Rotherham United v Southend United – Preview:
TROUBLED Southend United head to high-flying Rotherham United, keen to spring a surprise following their superb 3-1 Sky Bet League One success over Bristol Rovers at Roots Hall last Saturday.
Blues’ relegation is all but sealed. However, their young side continues to battle gamely in the face of financial adversity. They face a Rotherham side sitting second in the table, but having failed to win in three outings – a sequence which has seen the Millers slip five points below leaders, Coventry City.
Southend’s win over Rovers ended a run of six defeats on the bounce. Boss, Sol Campbell, has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the New York Stadium clash.
Skipper, Timothee Dieng, remains sidelined along with John White.
Mark Milligan could feature, while frontman, Stephen Humphrys could also come into contention. Speaking to www.southendunited.co.uk about the latter, Campbell said: “He’s had his operation and is due back in this weekend.
“Everyone heals at a different speed so let’s see how he is on the weekend and see what happens after that.
“I think he’s obviously a little bit tentative because of all the injuries he had previously around the nasal area, so we need to be careful and make sure it’s nice and healed properly before he goes back out there and concentrates on football, not thinking about his face.”
