Blues faint play-off hopes are still alive

AFC Fylde v Southend United – Vanarama National League – Mill Farm – Report

AFC Fylde 0-2 Southend United

Second-half goals from Danny Waldron and Harry Cardwell extended Southend United’s unbeaten Vanarama National League sequence to fifteen matches and kept their faint hopes of the play-offs alive as AFC Fylde were brushed aside at Mill Farm.

Waldron headed the Blues in front seven minutes after the restart before Cardwell nodded his eighteenth goal of the campaign midway through the second period.

The Blues are a point outside the play-off places, although Gateshead and FC Halifax Town, directly above them, have two games in hand.
