Canvey Island v Southend United – Park Lane – Friendly Match – Report
Canvey Island 0-7 Southend United
Southend United followed up Saturday’s 4-0 friendly win at King’s Langley with a seven-goal blitz of Canvey Island at Park Lane.
Trialist, Christopher Wreh and a Dan Mooney brace gave Southend a three-goal half-time lead.
Mooney passed up the opportunity of a hat-trick when his penalty was saved on the hour.
But Blues were far from finished. Callum Powell netted a hat-trick inside nineteen minutes – two of which came from the spot, while another trialist, Ibby Akanbi was also on target for the sizzling Shrimpers. They will undoubtedly face a stiffer test on Saturday, July 16 when they face Kettering Town at Latimer Park (3pm)
Southend United (first 60 minutes): Arnold (Andeng Ndi 45’), Hobson, Kensdale, Reeve, Demetriou, Miley, Coker, Clifford, Mooney, Bridge, Trialist A.
Southend United (Last 30 minutes): Andeng Ndi, Crowhurst, Davis, Ralph, Arrowsmith, Husin, Taylor, Benton, Wood, Trialist B, Powell.
