TROUBLED Southend United have been given permission by the EFL to sign Brentford’s Icelandic goalkeeper, Patrik Gunnarsson, on an emergency loan.
Following the injury sustained by Mark Oxley, have brought in the 19-year-old, who has made one senior appearance for the west Londoners.
Blues have fielded 18-year-old duo, Harry Seaden and Callum Taylor, following Oxley’s exclusion, but now the former Reykjavik Athletic shot-stopper is expected to be donning the gloves when Burton Albion are the visitors to Roots Hall Stadium on Saturday, subject to FA clearance.
